Metatek Highlights Successful Engagement at the 2025 HGS–GESGB Africa Conference

Metatek is pleased to announce its successful participation in the 2025 HGS–GESGB Africa Conference. Here, the company engaged with industry leaders, showcased its advanced airborne full-tensor gravity gradiometry solutions, and reinforced its commitment to supporting subsurface understanding across Africa’s rapidly evolving energy landscape.

About the 2025 HGS–GESGB Africa Conference

The HGS–GESGB Africa Conference is known for its technical depth and strong geoscience focus. This year, the event brought together operators, academics, seismic experts, and service companies to examine new exploration results, field redevelopment potential, and the shifting dynamics of Africa’s energy future.

Opportunities for Metatek at the HGS–GESGB Africa Conference

The event theme, “Maximising African Opportunities in the New Energy Age,” aligned closely with Metatek’s mission to deliver high-resolution, cost-effective geophysical insights that support both traditional hydrocarbon exploration and emerging low-carbon applications. Of particular interest was Metatek’s recently completed airborne eFTG gravity gradiometry survey, over 29,000 km2 of the onshore Kwanza Basin, Angola.

Metatek’s exhibition presence, with presentations at the stand and conference talks, generated strong interest from operators and technical specialists seeking reliable subsurface intelligence in frontier, near-field, and geologically complex areas. The company highlighted recent innovations in airborne gravity-gradiometry, including improved resolution, enhanced survey efficiency, and integrated interpretation workflows that reduce exploration risk and accelerate decision-making.

This was highlighted by the talk given by Metatek’s General Manager, Jonathan Watson entitled “Integration of Airborne Gravity Gradiometry Datasets with Legacy Geophysical Data to Advance Exploration in the Kwanza Basin”.

“Engagement at this year’s conference reaffirmed the value of high-quality potential field data in both mature and frontier basins,” said Metatek’s Christian Richards. “As Africa’s energy landscape diversifies, our technology is well-positioned to support geothermal screening, new exploration, mineral targeting, and early-stage evaluations for carbon-storage potential.”

Also presenting in the technical poster displays was Metatek’s partner in the recent Kwanza Basin, Angola project, Striped Hourse Resources, with founder Charles Thomas presenting “The Impact, Potential & Value of Non-Seismic Methods and Integration of Multidomain Data in Exploration”

While the conference remained firmly rooted in technical geoscience, Metatek sees growing opportunity to expand the conversation into broader energy-transition applications. The company intends to contribute more actively to this dialogue in future conferences through technical presentations, new-energy case studies, and expanded collaboration with operators pursuing diversified subsurface strategies.

Thank You from Metatek

Metatek extends its appreciation to the organisers, speakers, and attendees who helped make the 2025 conference a productive and forward-looking gathering. The company looks ahead to continued partnerships across Africa and to supporting the continent’s role in shaping global energy solutions.
