Metatek at AAPG and GESGB BEOS Conference 2025

April 2024

Earlier this year, Metatek attended the 2025 AAPG and GESGB BEOS Conference. Our General Manager, Jonathan Watson, gave a talk about the Application of Airborne Geophysical Techniques on day two. Here’s how the two-day conference went.

Day 1 at AAPG and GESGB BEOS Conference

There were plenty of talks throughout day 1 that members of our team were able to attend. Neil Hodgson of Searcher, BEOS Convenor, welcomed attendees to the event, Owain Jackson of H2Au.cowho, had natural hydrogen covered in his talk “Economic Basement – A Matter of Perspective”. Stephen Coomber of Westwood Global Energy Group then took to the stage to compare the diverging paths of exploration in the UK & Norway.

The day was followed by drinks and a chance to socialise with industry professionals – a great end to an informative day.

Day 2 at AAPG and GESGB BEOS Conference

Day two brought us a busy Metatek booth; it was great to connect with new faces and catch up with our industry contacts. Jonathan Watson delivered a fantastic talk on “Application of airborne geophysical techniques in different energy sectors”, which was well received by all who attended.

The second day of the conference ended with an Energy on Draft -“BEOS Edition” across the road at The Old Queens Head, sponsored by Badleys Geoscience.

Overall, we had a fantastic time, and I want to thank everyone who stopped to speak to us at our booth and came to see Jonathan’s talk.

About the AAPG and GESGB BEOS Conference 2025

The BEOS Conference 2025 is a yearly event organised jointly between the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and the Geoscience Energy Society of Great Britain (GESGB). The goal of these types of events is to grow and nourish the geoscience exploration community, particularly in the growing arena of transition energy,  whilst encouraging and empowering the next generation of young professionals  ng the industry.

This year, BEOS specifically addressed the energy transition stream and the traditional upstream energy sector. It’s a chance for professionals to learn about the sector and grow their knowledge, and it also offers networking and business development opportunities across the industry.
