Metatek at the 86th EAGE Annual Conference & Exhibition

Toulouse, a first-time host, is the world capital for aeronautics and the European capital of the space industry. An out-of-town event, close to the airport, kept the Uber drivers busy, ferrying attendees to and from the new MEETT conference and exhibition centre.

Attendees had access to a comprehensive technical program, including over 100 sessions covering topics such as seismic imaging, carbon capture and storage (CCS), geothermal energy, and digital transformation.

The IPC (international prospect center), within the exhibition hall, allowed a large number of countries, from Europe and beyond,  to deliver short presentations on the latest opportunities, technology and developments fueling the changing energy market. Of particular interest was a very topical talk by Maksym Vityk, entitled “Energy under fire: Sustaining Gas Production in wartime Ukraine”.

Of particular interest for Metatek was the presentation given by Charles Thomas, of Striped Hourse Resources, Metatek’s partner in the recent Kwanza Basin, onshore Angola eFTG airborne survey. Entitled “The Impact, potential & value of non-seismic methods and integration of multidomain data in exploration & appraisal in Angola”.

Alongside the technical and business opportunities was the social side. An evening event at the Victor Hugo Market, in the centre of Toulouse, was a very pleasant assault on the senses, sampling local cuisine.

All in all an enjoyable few days in the South of France, and onwards to the 2026 EAGE conference in the Granite City, Aberdeen.
